A friend of mine once told me that the only way around despair was to go through it.  At the time, those words were a bitter pill for me to swallow.  I am forever grateful to that friend, as he helped me go through one of the more difficult times of my life. Looking back now, I realized that it was often through the love and care of the larger saint community that enabled me to navigate through the road to hope.  

For this week’s devotional, I want to share with you an article from Felipe N. Martinez.  He is a program associate for Hispanic ministries in the Whitewater Valley Presbytery in Indianapolis.  I hope you are encouraged, moved and inspired by his story and that your personal road to hope through suffering, endurance and character is fulfilled.  As Paul reminds us, the foundation of our hope is in God’s love for us and therein lies our boasting.  God bless you all and have a blessed week.
